Air Zone Power Strike 48 Review[4] Update

This gun is only available at Toys R Us for $30. Made by Prime Time Toys, its a electric fly wheel blaster that holds 48 darts and runs on 4 AA batteries. It has a on/off switch that starts the motors and the front grip is used to rotate the barrel and push the darts into the motors. One nice thing about this electric gun is that the darts won't fall out when tilted down. The range is really good for a fly wheel gun at about 40 feet. It will shoot as fast as you can pump the handle but to keep ranges up it's good to let the motors spin up between shots. I am very impressed with the range but disappointed that it doesn't have a trigger. It's worth the money in my opinion.

UPDATE: this gun will work with nerf darts but this guns darts are a little shorter so your nerf darts may need to be trimmed to get them to work correctly. Nerf streamlines can be used if you trim them down to the correct length and either add electrical tape or rubber bands to the flywheels so they can grip the darts. This will require taking the gun apart. Either method will require getting the correct thickness on the flywheels to grip the dart correctly.

In the box.

The stock can be removed with the push of a button.

You can see the motors through the window on the side. There is also a slot to load darts if you don't want to open the front.

The front opens for easy dart loading and the barrel spins freely.

  2. how long is each of those inline clip-like barrels?

  3. How does it look like an M1919?

  4. I would mod it to actually have a working trigger that when pulled ran the motor so it would save on batteries.

  5. so what kind of darts does it use? is it compatible with other kinds of darts?

  6. works with all nerf darts except streamlines.

  7. A note on this blaster since I bought one for myself the other day: While it will fire Nerf darts it is designed to use the Air Zone darts which are shorter. The gun holds 4 Air zone darts in each of it's 12 barrels, filling with nerf darts you'll only get 3 darts and it may not always properly fire as it moves the darts forward a set amount each time that is calibrated for the shorter darts. You can of course use Nerf darts just fine if you clip the length of them some.

I for one am looking into modding options such as moving the on/off switch and replacing with a push button, motor replacement, and increased voltage. The trigger system is useless and there is no internal space for a real trigger to be used, so don't even bother with that.

  8. No space for a real trigger, that sucks. I haven't opened it yet but I planned to move the on/off switch to the trigger.

  9. That would be an epic shell to slap a titan into

    ReplyDelete
  10. Exactly, I might find a busted one somewhere because im not planning on spending $40 bucks on a shell for my titan

  12. Airzone is a Toys R Us house brand. Individual blaster models are outsourced from other companies. You will occasionally find Airzone models at overstock clearance stores, but this blaster is probably a Toys R Us exclusive. Resellers may offer it on Amazon or Ebay at premium prices.

I just picked one up today. It is rather loud, but it is fun to use. The Powerstrike is compatible with rechargeable batteries, which don't usually work with my Nerf accessories.

Streamlines really don't work. The wheels tend to not grab them, then the cylinder mechanism jams when it rotates with the dart sticking out. Also, the tube magazines on the cylinder are loose enough that streamlines will slide right out of the front loader slot.

I'll follow up later about other dart types as I get to them tomorrow.

  13. i think cuting off the entire handle asembly and intergrsting it with another gun would be sweet, lets say it would fit under a vulcan, or idk longshot, would be quite monumental

no to mention it would provide room to change the no existing trigger...just saying

  14. I see these are the same darts as the Punisher. Have you ever seen refill packs for these darts?

If you could integrate this under a high-powered longshot... it would be ugly as hell, but you would have waves of people running from you because of the humming noise, having almost limitless close range ammo (48!) and the ability to nail someone with the longshot anywhere within 80 feet. Awesome.

  20. u ever find out about the air zone suction darts

  21. I tested using buzz bee darts which I believe to be the same as Air Zone darts, and they do work with a few miss fires.

    ReplyDelete
  22. thats great thanks im getting one tomorrow

    ReplyDelete
  23. plz answer would this be equal with a stampede or better

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is a awesome gun for the price, it's less accurate than a Stampede but holds a lot more ammo.

  25. I think I'm gonna get this, and paint B.F.G. on the side. This will be the gun to use on a horde in humans vs. zombies

  26. FYI: The powerstrike 48 is now selling for 19.98 at toysrus and with upcoming sale of buy one get second 50% off allows you to get two for $30 which cannot and will not be beat

  27. My TRU has had the PS48 for $15.00 for months. Now that they are on sale buy one get one 50% off they shot the price back up to $19.99. I went there today with thoughts of getting two for $22.50. Still two for $30 is an awesome price considering you get 96 darts and two positively reviewed blasters for $30.

  28. Thats good airzone loaded all 48 darts beforehand,So you wont have to load them..

  29. Crap the flywheel's LOUD D:

  30. just as an alert to stampede users, the power strike is in fact perfectly capable of taking down stampedes in the right hands, in my nerf wars,it has completely made the stampede obsolete, most likley because the power strike outranges and has a higher capacity than the stampede.

  31. Refill darts would be nice, as I cannot find the BuzzBee "whistler dart" and have had jams using older (green foam) BuzzBee suction cups. It had excellent power and range with the heavier, Punisher darts... in fact, I had a zombie complain after the match that he KNEW when I hit him, and even had a welt.

  32. Prime Tome Toys is gonna have dart refills whenever they get the Dart Zone line in stores.

  33. Now it's time for Uin13 to integrate one of these into a Stampede

    ReplyDelete
  34. it uses FLYWHEELS. grab 1 of da original darts and cut yourself some stefans. they should work just fine right? da original is the same diameter as a regular nerf dart. use 1/2 inch foam backer rod, cut chuncks to length, put em in a pillowcase and blow a hairdryer into it for a couple minutes (straitens them out). Throw some hot glue on the tip for weight, and your set.

  38. This beats a stampede with a 500 rpm?

  39. Jerm How many stefans can The PS48 handle?
