Nerf Barrel Break vs BB Double Shot

Who makes the better shotgun, Buzz Bee or Nerf? Both of the blaster here have been modified for better ranges. Read on to find out who wins

The Buzz Bee Double Shot has had the barrel shortened and custom cpvc shells inserted for ranges around 35-40 feet. The Nerf blaster has spring spacers and cpvc barrels with ranges of about 40-50 feet.

Both blasters use a barrel break operation for priming and loading the blaster.

Both blasters have dart storage on the blasters. The Double Shot has storage in the stock while the Barrel Break has a rail attachment to hold darts.

The Double Shot uses shells to hold darts while the Nerf blaster gets loaded directly into the barrels. Both blasters have a 2 stage trigger to fire darts one at a time or both at the same time.

In the end both guns are very similar with quick loading and are comfortable and easy to use but the Nerf Barrel Break has better ranges and better build quality for the easy win.

  1. I have both but I personally believe the barrel break is better.Good for clearing rooms in short order and faster loading with the attachment

  2. the greatest mod for the DS is to extract the entire shell system and CPVC coupler the two holes. With that perfect seal going, it easily out ranges the BB.....in addition to making it smaller, lighter, and faster loading.

P.S. remember to make it rear cocking before you do that so its primable after the couplering.

  3. Nerf will always win out over Buzz Bee when it comes to build quality. One thing you're overlooking which i feel gives the double shot the edge is the loading/cocking mechanism. The flip down, load, flip up, fire action of the DS is much smoother and faster when compared to the barrel break.
A quick mod for the DS that is less invasive than the one posted above is just nest some cpvc in a piece of pvc the size of the shells. The diameter is the same so you can just jam it in there and never worry about shells again. Yank it back out with some pliers and you can go right back to using shells if you want.

The DS is pretty damn good singled too if you leave the break action in tact. That is a much more complex mod though.

  4. You are right Cris, the Double Shot does have a simpler flip down/up mechanism and without shells would make it easier to use. I may have to do some more modding and revisit this comparison.

  5. invasive tho it may be, it squeezes the most range out of the blaster, makes it MUCH smaller than the DS, decreases reload time, kills shells, and quickens priming time (if you have it tethered to your belt, push down and presto, cocked one handed).

I suppose that it does kill the romantic aspect of the blaster...but hey....I put practicality over appearance any day of the week :P

  6. U forgot DS is $10 and BB is $17.

  7. Without heavy modifications, the DS is utter crap. It is large, inaccurate, unreliable, and takes shells. The "Stubby Dubby" mod makes it alright, but is somewhat difficult. The BB is much cooler and efficient in stock form, and can still be improved more. The DS just doesn't feel right anyway. There still is a price difference of around 5-10 dollars, but it's worth it.

  8. Well Chris Bee, I would have to agree with you about the Quality of Nerf. They are unmatched. but i think you are not remembering possibly one of the best primaries of all time... The BUZZ BEE big blast. lets not count buzz bee out that quickly chris

  10. you can get two buzz bees for the price of one barrel break!

For bullets vs two, the buzz bee is tons better!

  12. Buzz bee can shoot clip system darts but barrel break sucks with it

  13. break barrel is better coz it has better range and easier to reload without using the buzz bee shells

  14. we buy a shotgun because it looks like a shotgun, the buzzbee in looks is better and simpler the barrel break is complicated and looks kinda retarded, the buzzbee has less range sure, but thats with shells, if you nest some brass improve seals etc it matches, if not beats the barrel break with nested barrels already, nerf has better build quality sure, but how much more money has nerf then buzzbee? if buzzbee improved their shell design and got more fans nerf would have an equal rival.

  15. I really like the Buzz Bee Double Shot for how it looks and feels. The Barrel Break is just feels different for me. I also don't really like how you have to pull out the barrel first for the Barrel Break.

  16. Nerf is hell better than buzz bee their guns look retarded and they copy Nerf (but buzz bee fail in the range and stuff) i don't care about which looks better (Although Nerf looks great) Their gun are cheap coz they're rubbish. Nerf got revenge by copying the double shot and making it a hell of better than the DS, and sawnoffs kick ass compared to regular shotguns

  17. The DS has way more mods and can be made far better for cheaper. I disagree to some extent about the harsh treatment of Buzz Bee. At least they didn't make 5 Recons in a row. With lots of mods, the DS is far better. And with some mods the DS looks better in my opinion. Sure the Barrel Break feels better, but is it worth paying twice as much for?

  18. May I ask what is the size of the pvcv s needed to do the no shell mod? And after that mod does the blaster has to use streamlines or others? Thanks

  19. I'm probably just going to get the barrel break
Because nerf is more reliable and I've only just
Found out about 'buzz bee', I mean no offence
To buzzbee fans but why the hell did they name
The company buzzbee? Anyway I totally agree with u man buzzbee is cheap to say the least.
