The new Nerf Barricade has finally hit store shelves. Leave it to Nerf to show Buzz Bee how it's supposed to be done. The Barricade is more compact than any of Buzz Bee's offerings and darts won't fall out when tilted down. Compared to other flywheel guns, this is one of the best there is. Ranges are about 30 feet which is pretty good and just slightly better than the Buzz Bee Rapid Blast that has 2 more shots. Accuracy is very good and it's one of the quieter flywheel blasters. The gun does look a little bulky but it is more compact than say a Nerf Fury Fire that also has 10 shots. My only real complaint with this gun is the loading of darts. I think they should of used a flip out barrel system like the Maverick to make loading easier. Maybe it's just me but when turning the turret to load darts it sometimes feels like something is going to brake inside. But for the price, this 10 shot semi-auto pistol is a good buy if you can get past the loading and noise.
Pro's. 1. compact, 10 shots and smaller than a Furyfire. 2. Price 3. Good ranges at about 30 feet. 4. Comfortable to hold and uses any Nerf stock. 5. Dart's won't fall out when tilted down.
Con's. 1. Flywheel noise, it's not that bad. 2. Not many mods(not that it needs any) 3. Reload time sucks
Ranges are about 30 feet, that's better than any of Buzz Bee's flywheel blasters(Rapid Blast comes close). It's on par with the Air Zone Punisher but slightly less than the Air Zone Power Strike at 40 feet.
Inside the box. Just the gun, instructions and 10 darts.
It has a jam door located on the top of the blaster.
Like most Nerf guns it has a tactical rail on top and you can use any removable stock from the N-Strike series.
Size compared to a Nerf Spectre.
Don't forget the batteries, 3AA(not included).
Internals are very basic.
Here you can see one of the flywheels.
The barrel rotation mechanism. No mods planned for this but I may try to integrate it onto another gun. And yes, streamlines do work in this blaster.
Found at Walmart $16.88.(reported to be $15 at Target) Is it war worthy? You tell me.
@ brian, whenever looking for a very new nerf items not on shelves in many cases you can ask employees to check storage and sometimes they will, sometimes even when the product hasn't been released yet
i just picked mine up and will be returning it to walmart tomorrow morning. the trigger would often get stuck. the barrel would rotate when it shouldnt and not when it should... it did have great range for a small blaster but the issues listed along with the noise it makes just arent worth it for me... im going to take my $15 and get another longshot
The Barricade really isn't all it's cracked up to be (in my opinion). I don't see whats so great about an ugly, chunky, noisy pistol like this. I must just hate flywheels. Btw, I saw where you added the WARNING! section to the site. That video made me fall over laughing. Anyway, they must have convinced every seven year old watching it to go put pushpins in their darts and shoot themselves in the eye. Seeing the stupid 'specialists' talk about the dangers gave me an irresistable urge to pull out my PistolSplat and shoot them with stefans :p
A lot of people on various blogs complain about the motor noise. Curious...has anybody tried using sound dampening on the shell of the blaster? For instance, something like Dynamat, which would be used in a car for the same purpose?
I bought mine and used it for a humans vs zombies weekend and it pretty much dominated, I'm planning on getting another one to dual wield, would be better if it flipped out like the maverick, and I've found streamlines dont work as well as other darts but apart from that it kicks ass
want me to tell you what i love about this gun? too bad. You can use its flywheels to to turn foward motion into pulling motion.(prime by the shoulder stock ) ):<)
Heyy, I would love for you to do a write up about umm a nerf barricade modded with the magwell from a old raider (if you have one) and put it in more detail than.... http://forums.humansvszombies.org/index.php/topic,2338.0.html this guy... i can barley understand it. Will you please do it?
Ya man I've got this gun; its awesome. Maybe you can somehow modify it to be fully automatic? I'm a starting modder (actually, I'm going to start with a simple gun like the handgun from the Disk Shot) in a couple of minutes...heh any advice? Maybe some way to add e-tape to the spring holding-thingy to increase power? I honestly have no idea how I'm going to do this...or what I'm even going to do.
I'm the "starting modder" anonymous...heh I tried to mod that disk shot gun....let's just say I need a new one ;) well anyway on this blaster (Barricade) is there a way to get it to shoot harder/further or is that impossible because of the flywheel setup? Just wonderin before I go and ruin mine here.
i have been in nerf wars for 4 years i started with a borrowed maverick an worked up with borrowed guns to a longstrike i recently bought a Vulcan and i am thinking of buying this as a sidearm what are some tips
I ordered one , and im pretty happy about the reviews online , in my first tought i bought a loud noisy pineapple that shoots darts , but now that i saw the reviews online and the youtube video`s and now im happy about the gun. I just want to know if its loud as they say.
I was also having thoughts about converting this a full-auto clip blaster. Throw in a 9V battery. modify it to take clips, tear apart the pusher system, and replace that with a little motor with two arms (just above and behind where the clip sits) that spins when you pull the trigger. That would be awesome.
by far the best mod Ive done to this gun is making it pressure activated. Its actuality easier to do than the trigger activation and faster to turn on to boot. just cut away a portion of the handle and stick the activator into it (black peg sticking up) cut out a portion of cardboard (one strip and a folded square) and wrap them up in E-tape. this makes them less flexible and more resistant to the elements. place the strip over the black peg and E-tape everything down (with the folded cardboard section very near the metal peg). Now it activates by just grabbing the blaster and will turn off about 1-2 seconds after you let go, depending on the tension put on it via the E-tape.
I'm sure that this mod would work well with your longacade or any other Barricade mods and I got the idea off of the HvZ forums :D
Help! I love my Barricade but the trigger "locks up" all the time! This is my ONLY complaint, but it is very problematic. NO, I am not forgetting to turn it on. By the way, I pwned a Raider with a half loaded Barricade in a Nerf War. It works awesomely> Can anyone help me?
Corgano here. I'm thinking of modding one of these to take modified Vulcan chain. I plan to add a slit in the back of each chain piece, and use a circular plastic "tab" to push the bullets forward into the flywheel. The tab will fit inside the slit of the chain and also help guide it through. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
I'm returning my Barricade tomorrow too. The gun is good and all, but, uh.. Every single time I pull the trigger it jams. Every. Single. Time. Takes about 7 seconds to fix it for me usually. But this time it's looking like it's permanently jammed and so I will return it. Don't have high expectations for this gun. Please.
Hello. I was thinking about this quite a bit. I know the Tamiya Plasma Dash motors damage the darts. Perhaps try the Tamiya Torque Tuned motors. They have much lower draw and less than half the RPM. They produce a good deal of torque for the wattage and have a very small difference between load and no load rpm. Typically lower turn motors like these produce more power lower in the RPM range.
Also, I'm not sure why the mass of the flywheels wasn't reduced at the factory. Reducing the mass would reduce spin up time and increase rpms. Modders could do it by drilling holes in the center hubs of the flywheels, but the factory could save money on materials by molding holes into the flywheels.
I also wonder if the bottom flywheel is even necessary. In the side by side setup it seems like the only way to keep the dart from yawing left or right is to power two flywheels. But if a dart were to yaw upwards it might actually be advantageous. Because the motors are wired in parallel, by replacing the bottom flywheel with cvpc or letting it free wheel, current draw could be halved and runtimes could be more than doubled, especially with alkalines.
I checked, two powered flywheels are definitely better than one. Still waiting on the motors, but so far there hasn't been a ton of benefit from opening the front assembly.
If you turn the motor on and open the jam door at the same time, you can rotate the barrel by pulling the trigger without firing the darts, which makes it incredibly easier to reload.
"Maybe it's just me but when turning the turret to load darts it sometimes feels like something is going to brake inside."-->AARRGGHHH. Do not load darts like this. It finally will bread something! This is how it should be done. 1. Open the jam door 2. Turn the power switch on 3. Pull the trigger to roll the loader and fill it up. 4. (Optional) turn off the power switch 5. Close the jam door.
I got this blaster as a present it is my first nerf gun and I will need another one as a primary weapon. Any Ideas? My main problems with this blaster is the lack of a down facing tactical rail reload times and noise. Is there any way to get the barrel to flip out like the maverick ? And is there any way to reduce noise ?
How do you make the trigger stop locking when the blaster is off ? Is there any way to improve reload times without attaching a clip system ? Is there any way to reduce the noise ?
They had a full shelf in the very front of the store when I went there this morning.

is it loud? what is better the maverick, specture or this the barricade
ReplyDeleteWhy did you black out the "New!" Sticker?

The camera made the sticker look blacked out.
ReplyDeleteI checked 2 walmarts near my parents' in northern NJ this morning and there were no barricades. Where are you finding theses?
ReplyDeleteI hope to see your full review soon, I'd especially like to know how it compares to the ultimate rapid blast which is pretty cheap in comparison

I bet it'll only be a matter of time before I start seeing a bunch of these at my school's Humans vs Zombies games
ReplyDeleteBTW, it is available on Amazon.com for $16.99. Mine should be arriving tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteCan you show the comparison size of the nerf barricade and the buzz bee ultimate rapid blast?
ReplyDeleteA lot of people on various blogs complain about the motor noise. Curious...has anybody tried using sound dampening on the shell of the blaster? For instance, something like Dynamat, which would be used in a car for the same purpose?
ReplyDelete@brian I think the sound might come from inside the motors
ReplyDeleteToys R Us has officially added the Barricade to its site, for $19.99:

Also, Amazon has also increased their price to $19.99. It was $16.99 less than a week ago.
which is worth it the barricade of alpha trooper? oh and both are the same price where i live...
ReplyDeletefor same price definitely alpha trooper

ReplyDeleteHOW DO YOU TAKE THE AIR-RESTRICTIONS OFF?
ReplyDeleteThere is no air restrictor
ReplyDeleteThat guy is dumb, How would you put an ~AIR RESTRICTOR~ in a flywheel blaster? Its not even powered by air, hahahahaha. Signed Garrett1999

ReplyDeletethe trigger may jam because your not pulling it all the way back fast enough, this happens to my barricade to

ReplyDeleteWow,my friend has this gun and its really noisy as close ranges which is no very good in a war situation, but this is still a quiet good nerf gun.
ReplyDeleteThis is a horrible gun!It is so loud it is a dead giveaway in your position in a nerf war.
ReplyDeletereload time depends on the shooter. I can unload all ten shots in about two seconds
ReplyDeleteMy bro got a gear up edition for $14.00 at our local walmart. :)

ReplyDeletei went to walgreens and there were barricades mavericks and reflexes but my grades are suckish and i already have a stampede so yeah :(
ReplyDeleteI might get 2 and since it is semi auto dual weld them! How heavy are they? too heavy to use in one hand?(I'm 14)
