Rough Cut internals

This should end some of the speculation.  This appears to have a double direct plunger.  It would make sense to have a two-step trigger like the Barrel Break, but you really can't tell if that is used in this blaster.  Double rack and pinion gear to prime the blaster, which makes it more like an Eagle Eye than a Triple Shot.  How the air gets diverted to the different sets of darts still can't be determined by this picture, but it from the looks of it, I would guess it uses air restrictors the same way the Triad does to divert air to barrels with darts.  With the direct Elite plunger systems, better weighted darts and a pump action style double barrel shotgun, it really seems like Nerf is listening to what the people want and giving it to them and I couldn't be happier with the stuff they have been putting out.

EDIT: This picture of the instruction manual shows that there is in fact a two-step trigger so you can fire single darts.  It also shows that the Rough Cut will be a slam fire blaster!

  3. Now the question is, how will those gears hold up... cause surly, people will want top put new springs in the thing. I can see some cool replacement internals being made for it.

    I think I want one...

  5. Holy moly. I never would have believed that there would be a day when we would get the perfomance and power we wanted out of stock nerf blasters. I have to say, N-strike Elite seems like the best Nerf line ever!
Although, Elite seemed pretty sketchy at first. They started with 3 reshells and the Failfire, then they turn around and they unleash this awesomeness. You're going in the right direction now Hasbro, keep going! PS improve your super soakers. They suck.

  6. Oh god. I found one of these babies in my local Target (SoCal) and I decided to try to mod it (like I normally do). First of all, the ARs are in there for more than restricting air - they make the darts actually work. DO NOT REMOVE THE ARs. I tried and couldn't (thank god) because the front orange piece is Hulk-Glued together, but that's when I discovered that the ARs were part of the firing mechanism. If you're going to apply any sort of modification to firing, you're going to have to metal-mold the plastic gear bits because they're exactly strong enough for how much pressure the Roughcut puts out. I put in some new springs that were BARELY stronger than the stock ones and my internals shattered from the sheer force. It's pretty great on its own. Only suggestion is to install a foregrip mount of some sort because the stock grip isn't all too great. I used an old handle from another broken gun on it and it worked beautifully. Until I exploded my gun.

  7. @Unkown, Got a dead raider here, think it will be a worthy pump handle replacement :3 (the priming grip will anyway)
