Brand new Dart Tag Stinger blasters and sets!

I had some time to waste today and decided to drop by Toys "R" Us. When I walked in, I found the brand new Dart Tag blasters! They are officially being called the "Stinger".

There was the "Dart Tag Target Tag" that we have been shown by the Argos catalog, but that's not all they had!

Also on the shelf was what's called the "Dart Tag Dart Duel" blaster set!

More details and unboxing videos after the jump!

"Dart Tag Target Tag"

Package includes:

  • Dart Tag Stinger blaster (blue)
  • Training target
  • 5 Dart Tag Darts
  • Instructions

The Stinger is pretty much a more streamlined and more comfortable Jolt. It uses the exact same design with just a little more plastic shell so that you can hold the extra two darts up top. Straight out of the box it seems like its using a little higher powered spring, but I won't know for sure until I can do some testing.

The darts are now Y-coded and seem to be made kinda of cheap. It could just be me, but that's what they seem to me.  They are the same dart just a little different color tip and different codes.

As for the target, there's not much to talk about. It has a fold out stand on the back; alternatively, you can hang it on a wall. Not all the packaged darts like to stick, but it works.

"Dart Tag Dart Duel"

Package includes:

  • 2 Dart Tag Stinger blasters (red and green)
  • 2 sets of Vision Gear glasses
  • 2 training jerseys
  • 6 Dart Tag Darts (3 red, 3 green)
  • Instructions

These Stingers are the exact same as above. However, they come in an awesome red and green color!

Darts are once again Y-coded and seemed even cheaper than the ones above. They have red and green tips, which is kind of cool, but just doesn't seem to be up to par with other darts when it comes to how they are made.

The Vision Gear glasses are the same as they always have been. However, they have green and red lenses. The jerseys, again, are nothing but a cheap material that the darts stick to. Nothing too exciting.

Overall, I like the new design of the Stinger over the Jolt. It feels a lot better in the hands, but it's still a Jolt.

    1. I am a newer author, just since the new blasters where released (Stryfe, Triad, Rough-Cut Exc.) Thanks!

  2. What a waste of money and plastic! These should have all come with Dart Tag variants of the Triad!

    1. Nerf has stated that they're happy with the power of the Dart Tag line and will not be releasing any Elite powered Dart Tag blasters.

There are many good reasons to keep DT lower powered including safety and the simple fact that a high velocity dart bounces with a lot more force making it less likely that the Velcro will keep it stuck to the target. What's the point of hitting people if you don't get credit for it?

I suspect they're going to have trouble with these new cheap darts. We have some of the standard DT darts around the office that have only been used a dozen times and the tips of several of them are falling apart already.

  3. I, for one, am really liking these new Stingers, especially the addition of the 2 dart holders up top. I'll be eagerly awaiting for these to be released in my country; I think I'm prolly gonna be getting both sets.

How much did they cost, though? Thanks!

  4. You should really try to make your videos shorter: few people want to watch a long annoying intro and then wade through a rambly eight-minute video.

  5. I meant for the higher rate of fire and functionality with the Triad, not necessarily the power. Dart tag with two jolts seems like a slow and lame idea. I love the fact that I can usually fan 3 or 4 darts in my hand and load them into the roughcut in a pinch. With a dart tag Triad you could at least get one shot off while in the middle of reloading, or load 2 at a time and make the battle more intense.... put those jerseys to use!

    1. Same as a Jolt from testing a little bit. Nothing official yet.
