Coop772: OMW Longshot Immortal Review

This is Coop772's review of the Orange Mod Works Longshot Immortal kit.  It's been a long wait for this kit to be released since it's November of 2011 pre-order date, but nevertheless it's a great review of this product!  Availability on the kit has been... odd to say the least, so if you're wanting to pick one up I'm not sure if they're available right now or not based on the mixed information out there right now.  You can visit OMW and check it out for yourself using the re-direct banner on the right column of this blog.

  1. Which strength spring did you have in there when you were test firing it?

  2. Also - did you get tracking info or did it just show up in your mailbox? (I'm still waiting on mine and haven't gotten any tracking info, but have gotten confirmation from OMW that it's been shipped)

  3. Got mine in the mail yesterday. Never got an email telling me it was shipped, and no tracking info sent either. Everything installed ok, but I don't see any improvement over the modified stock components. You also can not cycle the bolt as fast. The tighter barel tube will twist and crush a stock dart if you don't pay close attention while cycling the bolt. I don't have/use steffans, so I can't comment on that aspect.

  4. Got mine today too, no tracking info. Have yet to install.

  5. Just got it installed. It's putting out some serious power with the 5kg spring - no need for the 8kg honestly. I think the 8kg would do more damage (to the internals) than it would be worth for the bit of extra power. Getting in the bolt cap screw was a pain in the butt, but everything else is working smoothly. I lubed the boltsled as Coop suggested, which I think helps, but it is noticably harder to push the handle back (to close the bolt)than pre-kit. W All-in-all, a good kit. Was it worth a year and 2 months wait? Probably not, but now that my Longshot is up-and-running again, I'm pretty giddy about it. Here's to it lasting longer than my OMW longstrike kit.

    1. The Longstrike Kit problems are part of the reason I cancelled my order. I hope, for your sake, the Immortal proves me wrong and that you get to enjoy it!

    2. Thanks. I was on the verge of canceling on several occasions. OMW said that the delay was due, in part, to having to source a new parts manufacturer because the original samples were not strong enough. Hoping they got it right this time!
