This might look like a recolor of the Double Shot, but take a closer look. This is a new blaster all together. Obviously from Toys "R" Us since it is part of the Air Zone line. The question though is if this will have any modding potential.
I could actually see this being useful since it appears to be a pull-back blaster. People might be able to do some internal replacements and get a pretty good double-barrel rifle or pistol after minimization.
One encouraging thing is that this looks like it is a pull-back prime rather than the awkward pulley system that primed the Double Shot when you opened blaster to load.
Now this I find confusing. As far as I can tell, we haven't seen anything like the muzzle on this blaster. It looks like it is meant to hold darts in while still letting them force their way past when shot. The description says it comes with six darts and doesn't give much more info than that. It might be possible that this works in a way that it holds all six darts in the barrels.

I have lost hope in double barrel shotguns since buzz bee changed theirs...
ReplyDeleteIt loads the darts 2 at a time.
ReplyDeleteThe plunger rotates with each shot, alternating between the two barrels.
This thing has a mid-level mod potential... Something akin to a "cheap man's Tripleshot".
I got my hands on one and I can't wait to get cracking at it. So far I've removed what seems to be the air restrictors and it gets about 25 feet flat with the current dart size, so that should yield some power when converted to firing darts :)
I also got one of these; unless you are willing to work hard, this has very little mod potential. The darts themselves are about the same size as the Lanard Hand Cannon jumbo darts. It has a nice and big direct plunger but it has an ass-load of dead space in-between the barrel and the end of the plunger tube; it was a good 2-3 inches. But with a proper minimization, increased spring load, and adding couplers for RSCB units, this might become a formidable side-arm.
ReplyDeleteThose black cone things are the dart heads. They're thumb thick darts. The primer is direct pull, but you have to push the plunger handle forward. No spring retract. It also has a ratcheting action so you can cock it to less than max.
