Nerf Centurion, Response

I asked if they wanted us posting on this info and this is basically what the response boiled down to.

-They prefer that we do not post the info since it is not from an official source.
-The blogger who posted this has misrepresented the info and his access/relationship to Hasbro.

So as far as the misrepresentation goes, I guess we should take what ever info we see with a grain of salt.

  1. Something happened the Mylastdart, could he have released this too early?

    1. Could be, I emailed Hasbro to make sure this post is ok. There is a possibility that I'll be asked to take it down.

    3. About the MLD and the centurion, I think we shouldn't have to expect too much, because it is only the early prototype, and the stampede ECS-50 drum show to us how Hasbro can change the mind in the last time, so the centurion can being a little diferent, this also explains the lack of the scope, they could be still working on it. By other hand, the elite series don't come with any acessories (exept the retaliator grip) so this can be sold separetelly.

  2. If its legit, buying, now. But does that say Mega Darts? I thought those were dead with the Transformers blasters.

    1. Probably because they want a "Sniper" variant of the nerf micro dart like NATO has the normal 5.56*45mm ammunition and the 7.62*51mm "sniper" ammunition even though I find mega darts retarded as more bigger=more heavier=less distance

      Delete
    2. 'Retarded' (a word I object to) followed by 'more bigger'. How ironic.

      Delete
    3. more biggererest*

      Delete
    4. The reason for having bigger darts is because if they were the size of the current elite ones they would bruise.

  4. For the past several months there has been much speculation, assumptions, & incorrect information dispensed regarding the Elite and Rebelle lines without much repercussion. Distance flat v. angled, speed of dart, type of internal system, etc. were all speculated as information got out. In this situation, I hope that Hasbro treads delicately here. They will have to rethink their angle on marketing and release. There's much excitement regarding the Centurion and the Mega series with under 48 short hours after the information was unintentionally "leaked" from MLD. That's not necessarily bad even if somehow the gun was jumped. Additionally, as much as MLD has worked to hype Elite & the Rebelle line, it'd be a shame to hit him hard. Regardless, it's understandable that Hasbro has spent much time and money to design, advertise, & launch a product line. Sure they would like to launch on their terms to maximize their marketing and, ultimately, profit margin, however, the news is out now and Hasbro needs to be careful not to shoot itself in the foot (again). And for the Hasbro exec's who might happen to see this very comment, I'm VERY excited about the Nerf N-Strike Elite Centurion. But please don't overreact against the blog community. I'd hate to hold out 6 months again by only purchasing your product used from garage sales and Goodwill. Please let this still be a positive launch. This is said not by a teenage consumer but by a consumer/father/client/Nerf war community organizer who sees many participants that bring in Hasbro's gear in multiple full Rubbermaid totes.

  5. I know its probably just the perspective of the image, but that looks like its 4 feet long. Also, it does appear to be advertising Megas, which from a modder's point of view will probably be great. In order to achieve those 100 foot ranges with Mega Darts, the air out-put must be sizable. Then again, the clip breech probably wouldn't work if it uses a newer, larger Mega dart mag, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  6. I'd hate to rain on the party, as I really do want this to be true, but the box art does seem to be photoshopped. The clip is at a strange angle with the blaster, and there is a noticeable white outline on the clip. Also, while this is by no means real proof, I really doubt Hasbro would paint MEGA is big letters on the side of the blasterc.

Lets hope I'm wrong though, a stock gun thats shoots 100 ft would be incredible!

    1. hahahaha, out of everything that has shown up this and last year this is the least likely to be fake considering MLD saw this at the toy fair and was the one to release the information, this isn't just a picture floating around like some of the others.

    2. The clip is supposed to be that way dur

  7. i hope the Australian government now can let in the other elite blasters at their American ranges once they see the relative comparison between this and the other elites

    1. When has Nerf had a decent scope? Ever?

      Delete
    2. how about the red dot sight? Anyways i'm just saying that it would be strange to make "sniper" and not include a scope. I'd put one on for the hell of it even if it really is only aesthetically pleasing. :/

    3. Accessories increase the price of the blasters. Hasbro knows that the general trend for their sales is that lower the price on a blaster the more units they tend to sell. If you notice they have moved away from packaging blasters with accessories (barrel break, rampage, even the retaliator swapped a laser pointer for a cheaper fore-grip).

At one of the toy fairs Hasbro hinted at new accessories that might be sold separately. My guess is that if you want tac rail stuff you will be able to choose to buy them rather then be forced to pay for them along with the blaster you want.

      Delete
    4. This is how i wanted the accessories the whole time, the stampede would have been atleast $10 cheaper with out the bipod, shield, and 3 extra clips but possibly all of those together is cheaper than separate so i can understand the multiple clips.

      Delete
  9. The front half of that gun had better be removable. We all loved the longshot, but who actually kept it long.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Anyone else excited about the bipod shown? More military style with an actual function!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't know if it's just me but that Bi-Pod looks like a re-colored Vulcan Bi-pod and just Photoshopped onto the gun itself. Also the clip in the gun is crooked. So unless Nerf is working on slightly more realistic crooked clips like you can see on real guns I'm not too sure if it's a legit gun anymore. But I could be wrong.

    2. You're wrong, it is designed that way. Put the tin foil hat away.

      Delete
    3. Shadow--it's not at all the same thing, and the magazine is likely that way to allow for a different loading mechanism, or for an angled top to the magazine, as opposed to the straight tops they currently have. As you can clearly see, the bolt goes almost all the way to the magazine well, so it can't be a conventional loading system.

    4. Don't you think that you're jumping to conclusions a little too soon? I mean, yes, this could be Nerf's next big release, but on the other side, this gun could be a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4by3GHehlbA

P.S: WTF do you mean by tin foil hat?

    5. I like how people are skeptical of this even though we were given an image, a description and this all came from someone who has a NDA with nerf at the moment because they showed him this and more. That and the fact that he had to take down the information since he wasn't suppose to release it yet due to a confusion. All of that is nerf basically saying this is real and it was a mistake that this got released early. Now I have never seen nerf do that unless the information was real.

    6. The Vulcan comes with a tri-pod not a bi-pod. THIS BLASTER IS REAL (probably) : )

    8. bad news guys this photo is photoshopped the front of the gun is the paper guns or should I say the spit water shooter lol! And they connected to Longstrike photoand then Photoshop it red its a fake and if you zoom in on the picture you can see the lines that sucks cause it would've been cool concept.

    9. You were SO wrong...it must hurt. I have to give you credit though. You chose a road & you walked it, even when it started heading towards a cliff.

    10. Gotta love how you're trolling a comment on a post that's 5 months old. The only reason I noticed this comment was because I had to Publish it for NM&R. Go do something productive.

  11. Yeah I noticed that to, but it wouldn't be the first time Nerf has created a gun with a clip like that, and it is a new ammo type.

  12. Well... thats interesting. 2ft plunger... wow. My guess the dart will actually fit snug in the barrel to make use of the massive PT and achieve ranges of 100ft. Im certainly looking forward to seeing the innards(supposedly cant be converted to fire regular darts?).

I think they should have made a new "shotgun" that fires these big darts... that would be cool.

Unless I find one at goodwill or whatever(or a big sale)I dont think Ill get one. In fact, Ill probably not get any more blasters new, just darts.

Ofcourse goodwill and yard sales are cool to get stuff...

  13. It is kind of skeptical cause itd be kinda hard to Photoshop that and make look EXACTLY like a Nerf box and look that real.

  14. I'm liking the thought of a shotgun that shots Megas. Think of it as it shooting "slugs". Hope Nerf does some shotgun variant for the shotty lovers out there

    4. nerf likes releasing stuff at 9/9

  16. I calculated the theoretical initial velocity the dart will leave the gun at which is 181 ft/s, of course the guns shooting 75 ft flat should be going 143 ft/s but you rarely see that speed on the chronographs, this is probably due to air resistance. With that included the initial velocity will probably be around 170 ft/s. This is one of 3 blasters that will be coming out at 9/9/13 as MyLastDart said several weeks ago and all of those 3 are suppose to reach 100 + ft ranges which makes me wonder are they all using the "Mungos"(1 by 4 inch) darts or only this blaster due to the sniper nature and being more appropriate to shoot 100 ft ranges more accurately.

  17. hey guys, just saw the new nerf elite cs18. looks like an extended stryfe with a stock.

    1. It is either real or a photoshoped stryfe with parts from the stampede and rayven. If this is real it would be a larger stryfe because of the acceleration trigger, with the addition of the stock in the back i don't think there is nearly enough room for an electronic plunger system and the picture quality is terrible meaning it could easily be photoshoped.

  18. looking at it again, the rapidstrike blaster (not the rapid strike mission kit) looks like an elite stampede =o)
